Bicycle Operation

• Bicycles may be operated on the streets, parking lots, and campus grounds.
• Bicycles, mopeds, skateboards, and scooters may NOT be operated on sidewalks.
• Whenever a bicycle is operated on a street, the operator must follow all rules of the road for motor vehicles.

Bicycle Parking on Campus

• A bicycle may not be parked or left in any manner that blocks a sidewalk, stairway, doorway or accessible ramp.
• Bicycles can only be secured in approved bicycle racks. There are no inside bicycle racks on campus.
• Bicycles may not be secured to any light pole, tree, bench, handrail, door, etc.

Vehicle Registration

All motor vehicles operated by students, faculty and staff must be registered with Converse Department of Campus Safety within five (5) days after being brought to campus. This includes full-time and part-time faculty and staff members.

• Resident Students – Initial registration will take place at the beginning of fall term. Resident students are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. the days and times will be announced at the beginning of fall term registration. Only one car per resident is allowed on campus. Student vehicles must be registered every year.
• Commuter Students – Commuting students must register their vehicles anytime within five (5) days of first operating the vehicle on campus.
• Visitors – Visitor information and parking permits are available in the Campus Safety Office. Visitors must comply with parking regulations and restrictions.

Parking Permit Request

Faculty, staff and students may request a parking permit online or by visiting the Campus Safety Office. The purchase of a permit does not guarantee a parking place, but merely allows for legal parking in an appropriate area.

Proper Display of Parking Decal

Display your current decal in the lower right corner of the front window of your registered car. Failure to register a vehicle or display a decal can result in a fine or towing at the owner’s expense.

Fees

Parking fees are included in the access fee for each term.

General Info

• The university shall assume no responsibility for the care or protection of any vehicle or its contents at any time while operated or parked on Converse property.
• Regulations apply to drivers of all vehicles and are in force 24 hours a day unless otherwise noted.
• Drivers of all vehicles shall obey the lawful instruction of any police officer and any official traffic sign on campus.
• Vehicles owned or leased by the university may park in any available space in order to conduct routine University business.
• Disabled vehicles not registered are subject to tow at the owner’s expense.
• Vehicles must stop for pedestrians at marked crosswalks.

2. Payments may also be mailed to the Student Accounts, Converse University, 580 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Please include your copy of the ticket when sending your payment.
